On 15 February, we witnessed a historic moment in the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM), a cruel practice that continues to destroy lives, particularly in Africa. This day was an opportunity to listen, learn and collectively commit to a better future.
Our experts, some of whom have been on the front lines of this battle, shared poignant testimonies on the devastating effects of FGM. But beyond raising awareness, they also outlined avenues of hope and concrete actions to end this practice.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude:
- To our inspiring speakers, for their courage and unwavering determination.
- To Maria Benta, social Advisor at Cyprus Refugee Council , for her invaluable expertise.
- To the organizations and members of civil society present, for their unwavering commitment.- To YALLA Collective Space & Café , for their warm hospitality and support.- To each and every one of you, for your presence and dedication to this crucial cause.- A special thank you to Barasa Daniel through Running-Fluent Initiative for their exceptional collaboration and contribution to this event.
Together, we can make a difference and end this inhumane practice. Let us continue to work hand in hand for a world where every woman and girl can live free, safe and with dignity.
